Weekend Trip: Point Pleasant Beach, NJ

January 8, 2012

A good friend of mine moved to Point Pleasant, NJ this year. She loves it there, and I’ve been planning to visit her for a while. I finally saw my chance to jump on the train from Penn Station to the little lovely town. If you are a New Yorker and need a little break from the craziness of the city, this is a perfect spot… especially in the summer where you can relax at the beautiful beach Point Pleasant has to offer. This January-weekend offered some beautiful, almost spring-like weather, so we took a stroll to the downtown area that blooms with cute little shops and places to eat and drink coffee.

Restaurant Check: The Beanery

My friend took me to this gorgeous little coffee/lunch place that offers a full menu of deliciousness. The atmosphere is cozy and it was just so hard to chose what to eat. I ended up ordering the Big Sur which was a wrap with shrimp, feta cheese, tomato, avocado, bacon and mixed greens with garlic herb spread. I got it without bacon, and it was fabulous. We also ordered chips, guac, and salsa, yum, and tea and (as recommended by a Yelper) the frozen Chai tea latte. Amazing!

Cupcake Shop: Little Sweet Cakes

This pink little spot just opened recently, and we went in for a little taste and to look at the beautiful treats.

And then, there is the boardwalk and the beautiful beach… Enjoy your getaway!
